California hunt and rescue crews are looking Wednesday for a missing chopper with 5 Marines aboard, the U.S. Marine Corps said.
The CH-53E Super Stallion chopper was "reported overdue" to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Tuesday night. The chopper departed from Creech Air Force Base adjacent Las Vegas and was en way to Miramar, successful the San Diego area.
The Marines person asked for assistance from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and Civil Air Patrol.
The sheriff's section said it received a telephone astatine 1:50 a.m. and sent its ain chopper to search, but the chopper wasn't capable to scope the country owed to the atmospheric stream tempest hitting the region. The sheriff's section said it has present sent off-road vehicles to navigate the unsmooth terrain.
Firefighters responded to the constituent wherever the chopper was past known, and thing was found, Cal Fire officials said.
